Back to the Grind
Our last day of Spring Break yesterday was just a quiet day - Palm Sunday at church - always fun making crosses...
And Polly loves them too - we weren't home 5 minutes before she kept trying to steal them.
We did take some time to make Easter gifts for teachers this week...
and got our caterpillars and ladybug larvae ready to head to school.
(Emily made these in art class - dyed Easter eggs with rubber bands)

The girls were really excited to get them to school...
Back to the grind of schedules and classes - whew! Hopefully we'll all sleep well tonight! (Emily made these in art class - dyed Easter eggs with rubber bands)

Crystals
Our 2nd to last day of Spring Break and we had plans to head south - but we left home in rain and clouds and cold and not sure of how it was going to be by the time we got there...
But with She-ra in the car you can't go wrong (Rose has been watching old He-man and She-ra cartoons and was "playing" it in the car ride)...
Finally some sunshine trying to peek through as we got to Fort Smith...
The rain finally stopped by the time we got close to our destination - Mount Ida,Arkansas..
And here we are...
Once inside - we checked out the items they had on display and for sale...
Then got ready for our ride out to the mines...
And here we are... the quartz mines...
Our guide showing us the ropes and giving pointers..
Then we got to work...
So fun being able to play in the dirt and dig for treasures...
Morgan and Emily had a good pocket with a bunch of great crystals...
Rose,Nora and I wandered around to some of the other sites to mine some more...
And we met this little guy...
And some beautiful crystals that we just couldn't get to...
Now these would have been nice but we ran out of time to dig them out...
We did find some more good ones in here though before we had to head out...
It was a bumpy and fast ride back...
These are called phantom quartz... so cool looking...
On our way out we spotted some more deer and Morgan saw a pileated woodpecker...
So we were wandered back through the Ouchita Mountains and headed home...
And then checked out our stash...
So neat to think that we dug these out of the ground!
What a fun day!!!
