Big Day

Nora wouldn't let me forget that today was the day we were going to her school... I was making our food store list this morning... she had me put it on there... I was making a list of places to stop... she had me put it on there... after each meal - she'd ask "is this dinner when we go to my school?" I had told her after dinner we'd be going...

The morning was filled with errands and storytime.. she loves going to the library and she's now in the "preschool storytime" .. big kid time! They make a craft and everything.. good fun! :o)
After Emily came home, obviously Rose felt the need to catch Emily up on everything she had missed out on during the day. Today was such a big day for her "talking" - she just yapped it up... talking up a storm. Here's a picture of her but below this a video of part of her conversation with Emily. She loves it when you imitate her sounds...

Then came dinner and it was time to go... Nora couldn't wait - she even got dressed by herself. She had drawn her teacher a picture of a princess and had a photo that her teacher requested all ready to go.

For a quick flashback... all this 1st day of school stuff makes me think back to Emily's 1st day of preschool. We had just moved here - moving truck still not here (that's why Emily is sitting on the floor eating breakfast)... and off she went. We had found a preschool at a church (our present church) and figured that would be a good place for her - no references, no checking into it.. just wanted a preschool that took 3 year olds and figured a church one would be a good start... so there she was ... we didn't even have a lunch box for her and couldn't find a back pack for her since it was October (we only arrived the Friday before from MD)
She didn't even look back - just went into class and got busy... I on the other hand went home to a new house, an empty house with nothing to do... so I drove around discovering our new home surroundings watching the clock until I got to pick her up....Back to Nora, she marched right in her classroom and quickly made herself at home...

Her she is with her teacher Ms. Casey - she also has a helper named Ms. Bridgette - both teachers seem very nice and just thrilled to have the little ones there tonight.

So now that we are all nestled in for bed - it will a busy morning... but can't wait to see how Nora's 1st day of preschool goes - wish I could be a fly on the wall!!!

A Day At Home

Wow - a day at home! I'm trying to get a playgroup together for Rose.. we were going to meet today but then plans changed - it was nice too though because Rose decided to take a really nice nap today. So I had time to straighten up from Brownies yesterday... pay bills... balance the checkbook - just get done things that were building up.

Just a couple other updates.. our troop is now participating in the diabetes walk for Mary Claire - we thought it would be a great service project to kick off the year. If you'd like to sponsor us in the walk - here's the link to our fundraising page:

And this just came through on Twitter and I thought it was really neat ... a picture of Hurricane Earl:

Where'd the Day Go?

What a day?! I'm not even sure which way is up... wasn't the full moon last week?! Anyway - everyone slept great last night amazingly enough!!! Rose and Emily are still stuffy... Emily was coughing up a lung all morning so we stayed home from church. She spent a quiet morning reading while Nora hit the baby doll stuff hard.. whoa - what a mess this afternoon!! I spent the morning trying to finish up sewing Brownie Patches on Emily's uniform and fixing a dress of Nora's. We then had lunch where Rose had her first taste of diced peaches... as you can tell, they weren't a huge hit!
Nora is getting more and more excited that school is quickly approaching for her - 2 more days!! We get to meet her teacher Tuesday night and then Wednesday morning is the big day!!
After lunch we went outside and cleaned off the patio - oh what a mess. Between the heat and all we haven't been outside much - so the spiders and bugs had taken over... it didn't help that the bubble jug spilled in the toy box out there.. ick!! We did find one pretty little lady - a quite large black widow - I was surprised we didn't see more... so we took care of her and finished straightening up.

It was then time to head to brownies. It was our first meeting of the year - the girls were so excited to see each other. I actually had to convince Emily to try at least to come.. she did ok - started coughing again towards the end of the meeting.
So now I'm trying to get started on the 34 page program that I do each year for our church's international dinner and silent auction - it has to be done by next week! We won't be attending this year - well, first off because Rose is still nursing.. 2ndly because Morgan will be in Tampa at that time. Yup, you heard me... Morgan's going to Tampa for a conference... http://iwn2010.org/ I can't believe he'll be going down and we can't come.. oh well! I'm also trying to get some tutoring sessions to help pay for our upcoming renovation... more on that to come! :o)

Soccer Day

Soccer season has officially started... with a stuffy, watery eyed Emily.. we headed to the fields armed with lots of water, sunscreen and a box of tissues. She was really tired - she was up for about an hour or more last night because of her nose... so she wasn't in the best mood to be practicing but she held out pretty good. I thought the practice was to be an hour but since it's not game time yet practice lasts 90 minutes... man, was it hot! There was absolutely no shade as it climbed up to 94... I have a lovely sunburn on my legs and arms to prove it! We ended up leaving at 1:15 because Emily had had it.. she held out pretty good - came home, tried to eat and actually took a nap!!
So Nora was busy as ever while we tried to stay awake the rest of the afternoon - Rose was of course busy too... although I never got a picture of her today... trying to get past the sunburn...

Dancing the Day Away

This is how this morning started- getting out of the shower to hear Nora talking - trying to get to her quickly so she won't wake Rose... ha! Too late.. she had already been awake - and in the crib with her.. ugh! You never know what Nora will do - she's full of surprises!
We then got ready to head to the store... we had to take a picture of her first to bring to her school Tuesday night for meet the teacher night... she's so excited!!!
Then Rose was trying her hand at crawling again - she took a few crawl "steps" in the right direction so I'm sure it's just a matter of time before she really gets moving!
Then after school - so much fun! We had a little pizza party celebrating the end of the 1st week of school. We kept the party goers to just playing "Just Dance" and making stuff with beads in the living room and dining room.. but they seemed ok with that. They had a great time - ate - played some more...

Then once all the girls were gone - Rose decided to make quick work of the baskets - she pulled each one day and emptied them pretty good.. :o)

Across the Pond

Nora spent 3 weeks in England on a study abroad program - Medieval England... she had the best time.  I'll gather up more of her pictur...
