Finding Fall

Today we spent the afternoon finding Fall...
Finding critters to talk to (the girls were having a peekaboo conversation with a praying mantis)
Mum blooms (can't wait to buy more tomorrow!)
And welcoming the change of leaves with open arms...
This guy is waiting patiently for his bale of hay and cornstalk to accompany him...

Checkups and Cowgirls

Having little ones is always a challenge - a challenge for planning - a challenge for just about everything. Today was one of those days that I was really glad that I got to bed on time last night!

Morgan took Emily to school - then I got Nora ready for school (it was Cowboy Day) and Rose ready to head to the doctor. We were meeting Morgan at the car place after getting Nora to school thinking we were leaving the car to get brakes - turns out we have to bring it back tomorrow to do that. But we got the oil change and then Rose and I headed to the store before her doctor appointment. This was her 18 month check up - yes, I know - she's almost 20 months now... but her 1 year check up was postponed due to the snow back in February and with insurance you can't schedule the amount on the right day - it has to be at least 6 months since the last appointment. So, off we went. She's healthy, growing great, showing her stuff to our favorite doctor. She is almost 32 inches long and 28lb 12ounces. It's a little hard to compare to the other two since it's not right at her 18 months check up. But to put it in comparison by clothes - the outfit she was wearing today - well, Nora was wearing it closer to her 1st birthday rather than her 2nd! :o)
So off we went again - hoping to make it back to Nora's school to see her with the horses again this year. Her class was supposed to be going at 11:10 - it was 11:25 when we left the doctor's office. My heart sank as we pulled in the parking lot and they were loading the horses back in the trailer - hoping that Nora didn't miss me being there!
We then headed home for lunch and some house cleaning to head back to Nora's school at the end of her day. She was ok - a little high strung and then lost it when she told me she wanted a cowboy picture to color too instead of just a cowgirl. Turns out they were handing out papers at the end of lunch but she was still eating so she missed out. I told her teachers how we set a timer sometimes at dinner since she eats so slow. I'd rather her finish at home and not miss out on activities at school... ugh! Always a challenge... so then back home, and a few altercations with Rose before she headed up for a nap. Nora just seemed off... poor thing!
She finally got out of it for a bit - I cleaned while she played and then Rose woke up. Soon after that we went to get Emily (she's been staying after school for a science camp each Wednesday and it was our turn to pick up). We saw a little deer family on the way there and back and the girls were chatty chatty on the way home. Again more butting heads while dinner was being made and then afterwards. I was hoping to get to the high school homecoming parade but figured after the day we had that that would be pushing it - it only started at 6pm. So after a few more meltdowns we finally headed to bed. Not before this conversation took place after dinner -(we were eating cookies I baked while we ate dinner) Nora took a bite and said "Whoa! that's hot!"... Emily chimed in with "It's not hot - it's pleasantly warm"... all the while - Rose is screaming "Peas, Peas!" (Please) wanting a bite... whew! Lots of patience.. always a challenge! :o)

Celebrating

Even though we spent yesterday celebrating my birthday - today (the real day) was spent celebrating more and celebrating the things around us.

Our Fall decorations are coming together - this weekend when we go to Home Depot day I plan to spend the time gathering our hay bale and other goodies.. more pumpkins will wait 'til we head to the pumpkin farm.

After getting Emily to school - it was back home to get Nora ready for school and Rose ready for storytime.
Rose had fun with the duck books and songs that we did at storytime.
Then off to Walmart, out to lunch with a friend and back to get Nora from school. Nora was very excited to share the book she made at school. Here's a link to her reading it to me:

Rose took a rather quick nap then up for playtime before Emily came home.
After snack (leftover birthday cookie), we headed outside to take advantage of the beautiful weather!

Here is a movie of some fun slide play:

Yarn and Cake

We had another packed day but I was thinking we weren't going to make it through... whew this morning was rough!!! Church was a blur with 3 ornery kids at different times - I don't think I heard a thing said at Mass.. wow! So we headed out to lunch with some friends to try and save some of the morning and she surprised me with a basket of mums for my birthday. We headed home for Rose's nap and then out for girl scouts.

The girls earned their "Yarn Art" badge - they loved all the projects that we made with yarn and enjoyed the discussion about how yarn is made. Fun meeting!!
Then back home for some celebrating. Now, I won't really be 38 until tomorrow but we celebrated today - between school, school, storytime, etc. tomorrow, it was just easier to do it today. So I had presents to open... so fun! The girls were so sweet!
Then we headed out to dinner at Outback - despite Rose's screaming outbursts and "NO"s.. (so glad she learned to say that word - ugh!!), an older couple came up and complimented us on our beautiful girls and what a lovely family we had... after dinner we got back home for cake and then (thankfully) bedtime! Sure it's not a full moon.. ha!! :o)

Walk, Soccer, Office...

What a Saturday - boy were we busy!! We woke up this morning (late!) and headed out to the JDRF walk. Some of fellow girl scouts joined us again this year.

The girls were so excited to be going and couldn't wait to get there - once we got all signed in and found Mary Claire's group we waited for our group picture. Hard to believe Holly and I were pregnant with those two (Nora and Ethan) at the 1st walk we participated in!
We visited with cheerleaders and razorbacks...
Got a family picture in and then more Razorback greetings...

Then time for the walk to start... and the rain.. ha!
After we were done - we grabbed an early lunch and some more pictures and then off to soccer we went.

For more pictures from the walk - here's the link on Walmart:

We set up at soccer and opened and closed umbrellas as the rain came and went...
Then onto soccer pictures... Nora was so funny!
Home again for a quick nap for Rose and then out again to move Morgan's office. We had to pack up his old office (or at least most of it)
Bring it all on down to the car...
And to the new building...
While Morgan and the older two brought all the stuff upstairs - I headed out with Rose to get dinner.
And while Morgan and I set up his office - the girls found a way to keep themselves entertained ...
Then before heading out - Morgan gave the tour of his lab. Here he's showing the girls his laser.
Then here he was showing them an experiment he was doing on chlorophyll. The girls thought that was really cool...
and enjoyed looking through the vial to make everything green.

And here's Rose putting on her best "looking through the vial" look. So serious!! :o)
Here are some more pictures from our soccer afternoon and office moving fun. :o)
