Today was field trip day - I was chaperoning Emily's GT class on a field trip to local cemeteries. They have been studying cemeteries, their histories, etc... she's really enjoyed it! I'll apologize up front for the number of pictures - but it was a really neat field trip...
We started off at the National Cemetery...
This is one of two parts of the original wall created back in 1866...
Off we went again to Everwood Cemetery by the UofA - the teams of students had gravesites they were supposed to locate, notes to take and questions to answer about certain ones.
This cemetery is really old and it was really neat to wander around...
A nice surprise - as we were wandering around, Morgan was getting back to work and saw us, (his building is next to the cemetery) so he came over and popped in to say hi... he wandered around with us for a bit before heading back to work...
We saw some of the most adorable baby squirrels - they must have just been released from the nest... they were so small..
But so brave...
And this one decided to adopt Morgan as a buddy - look by his feet... it followed Morgan for the longest time.. so cute!
From Everwood, we headed out to Wilson Park for a picnic lunch...
Then back out to the last cemetery of the day - the Confederate Cemetery.
On the property is the largest Sugar Maple in the state...
Such a neat day with a great group of kids!
