Signs and Light

Spring is upon us - lots of signs of it today for sure!  First off - Spring Cleaning!  We made our "deposit" up at the big consignment sale today - whew!  We finally have a guest room back!
Outdoors is just bursting with signs of Spring (trust me our noses are telling us that - well, at least I thought so, more on that later!)... we cleaned out some of the garden beds in preparation for planting soon...
and the girls had fun digging up worms...
and finding flowers..

Rose was filling up the bird feeders...
while I snapped a few more pictures - our first forsynthia bloom...
Daffodils are popping up all over.... and then we came upon this lovely pair on the way to get Emily from school..
Yes, there really are two - look closely...

It always amazes me how much they blend into their surroundings...
and of course with Spring - comes spring weather... starting early this year are our spring storms.  They rumbled through around 1am and we had both of the youngest up again... we were lucky... only losing a piece of siding... but up in Branson they were hit with a tornado...
Here's a link with pictures from the storms...

Back home for photo assignments... last week's assignments were "lines" and "framing" and we received our prints of those last night (above)... this week's lesson - lighting.. whew!  Hard enough to get the techniques right but then to get 3 little wiggly subjects in there.. even harder!  Knowing this is our last prints that we'll get (we only have 1 more class but we won't get any prints from that one), I was hoping to get one with the girls..

These are just a few of my attempts for my side lighting pictures...
Gabby was not helping.. either was a little mishap with Nora
(a little background... a few nights ago, Nora had a bloody nose - figured it was allergies and everything, each day since she was saying her nose still hurt... again, thinking it was allergies, she's been dribbly, etc..)  well, as we're taking pictures, she sneezes and out pops a bead... yup, a lovely purple pony bead!  What?!

Yup, leave it to Nora to put a bead in her nose!  Which of course explains the bloody nose the other day and her nose still hurting her - you would think it would have dawned on her to tell me about it the other night..
After that, we moved onto outside to try my other assignment - "back lighting"...

Does lighting the "rear" count as "back" lighting?  Ha!

Dress up Day

Our morning went as usual  this morning with a trip to the library but after a rough night with both the youngest up a bunch - Nora dreaming and Rose throwing up... but come the afternoon?!  These tired little girls needed something different than the usual playtime.

So we hit the attic - I noticed that Nora was finally outgrowing some of her clothes (the way she's been eating lately was a hint too!)... so we took out the next size box of clothes from the attic (still missing in action?  My size 3T stuff for Rose - guess we'll do have to do a little shopping for her!).  Boy did the girls have fun!
Clothes were flying this way and that... mostly onto the floor after it was tried on... And Rose did a great job taking down the clothes to be stashed away for her.
You could already see the gears working in Emily when Nora announced "Emily I was trying on new clothes all afternoon"... finally Emily asked her, "and where did you get these new clothes?"!  Ha! :o)

New Digs

I had our weekly Walmart run today - but this week's run required going to the big store.  I had to get Nora a new shade (more on that in a minute) so I wanted to see what they had or a curtain, anything to cover her window.  So while there (not intentionally looking for things for Rose's room) a comforter caught my eye with purple.  I had been  been looking a little for something that fit Rose's bed - mainly at daybed covers but hadn't found anything.  But while trying to hunt down window coverings for Nora - I picked up some stuff for Rose's room - it's actually looking like a big girl room now!
Now onto Nora... well, her poor shade has been through horrible times - Nora's little peeks out her window, her standing on her windowsill, and more has really taken it's toll on her plastic window shade.  So when it fell down "all on it's own" the other day, it was time to find something new.  I found window darkening curtains - they come in all sorts of colors... so I got pink (she loves them - saying they look like castle curtains!) and hopefully that will work for her and not end up with holes it in for her to peek out through!!!

Graduation

Today was Nora's graduation day... Emily was disappointed to miss it but she had a birthday party sleepover last night so she couldn't come.  Nora was so excited though - and even more so when she saw Meg when we got there.  It was so sweet of her to come to watch Nora graduate to her next belt.

The place was packed so we went and took our seats and Nora sat with Meg - they were chatting it up until it was time for Nora to join her classmates.

 They all got ready...
Here are all the kids getting their initial instructions...
Here are a couple movies of the beginning of graduation and their group testings...

Here's cool cat Rose taking in all the action...
And then it was time to get new belts...
Here's a movie of Nora getting her new belt:  http://youtu.be/RHMBW-7EvP8
 Nora was so excited...
And Rose checking in on the progress - there was a bunch of kids there...

 And they are all done...

Nora showing off her new goodies...
 A little chat time...
And I couldn't have put it better - as we left Nora (said with her usual enthusiasm) "I am SO Proud of my self!"  We are too Nora... :o)

Across the Pond

Nora spent 3 weeks in England on a study abroad program - Medieval England... she had the best time.  I'll gather up more of her pictur...
